Maths Challenge

LI: Finding the most efficient strategy

This week Sakina and I worked together to figure out our maths challenge. In this challenge the question was about how much metres of material they would need to make 26 Ta'ovala. A Ta'ovala is a tongan dress which is made like a mat that both men and women wear for formal occasions. The strategy that we used in this DLO was halving 12 until we got to 1.5, which meant that it would take 1.5 metres of material to make 1 Ta'ovala. After we did that we multiplied 1.5 by 26 which gave us the answer 39, which meant that 39 metres of material would be used for 26 Ta'ovala. I found this maths question interesting because I used a strategy that I rarely use.
