This week for tech at Tamaki College, we carried on with our 16 designs for our 4 recipients. We made sure that we didn't have any skinny and detailed parts of our designs. After we completed finding designs for our recipients, we chose one designs we wanted to create for a recipient. We decided to chose a Micky mouse designs that wasn't too difficult. Once we chose a design, Mr Grundy printed it out, so we could create it. Mr Grundy showed us the first step, of how to carve out our designs, so we were ready for next week.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teacher is Mrs Anderson.

Tech Reflection
This week at Tamaki College we did pewter casting with Mr Grundy. Today we finished our designs we would like to put on a necklace and the 4 recipients we would like to give the necklaces. If we chose any images that had skinny features or holes they could not be used since it is to hard to make. I have had a great time choosing designs for the necklaces.

Tech at Tamaki College
This week for tech we have been programming our m-bots to make the letter 'D'. Before coding, we had a little game of kahoot which involved things to do with the m-bots. After playing kahoot we started coding. It took a lot of time to make it a 'D' but finally we found out what we had to do. All we did was make the m-bot go straight the made a semi circle. This weeks robotics was very interesting and fun and I enjoyed debugging the code.

Tech at Tamaki College
This week for tech we had robotics with Mr. Krishna. For robotics this week we played around with the m-bots. M-bots are robots that we have to use code to make it do something. Last term we worked on trying to make a rectangle and square, this week we tried to make the m-bots go in a triangle. I tried using other peoples codes to see if they had a similar code to make a triangle. After many tries I finally made a triangle. The codes were similar to the codes that I made with the square and rectangle codes so it wasn't that hard.

Tech at Tamaki College
This week for tech we started making our games using the 3D printer. For this we had gotten an explanation from Miss Ferguson of what we have to do. Miss Ferguson 3D printed some game boards and in 2 different shapes such as squares and circles. For my game I couldn't use these game boards as I have a puzzle which needs different ways of making. The boards that Miss Ferguson printed were sanded. After that we dusted the dust off the boards with a duster and then glued the two boards together.

Tech at Tamaki College
Today for tech we finished making our games. Today I looked on thingiverse which is a website that has designs that you might need to create your game. I looked around the website to find jigsaw puzzles. Most of the pieces I saw were cookie cutters which weren't useful to what I was creating, so I looked for a plain white puzzle base on google. We were creating the game pieces that we made on tinkercad, so it could be 3D printed.

Tech at Tamaki College
This week was the last week of tech for term two. Today we started making our games that we planned out last week. We worked on our games for a couple of minutes and then we went on tinkercad. On tinkercad we tried making shapes and we had a challenge to try and create Mrs Anderson using the shapes. I enjoyed this week of tech and look forward to going back next term.

Tech at Tamaki College
Today in Tech we were asked to create a 3D version of games that you can play on paper. There were a variety of games that could be played on paper like, tic tac toe, hangman, word search, maze and much more. In Tech we worked collaboratively in pairs or in a group of three. My partner was Taheesha and we first played games then figured out what game we were going to make in 3D. We both chose to make tic tac toe in 3D then worked out how we can make it 3D. Later after we finished working out how to make tic tac toe into 3D we wondered what the structure would be, our choices were either plastic or wood. Then we could plan for next week.

Tech at Tamaki College
This week in tech we did graphics with Miss Ferguson. First Miss Ferguson explained what we were going to do. After she explained what we were going to do we first started off by doing our task we had from last time we had graphics. After a few minutes of doing that Miss Ferguson taught us how 2 dimension and 3 dimension works. After we got taught how 2 and 3 dimension works we tried it out ourselves. The most basic 3 dimensional object I personally think is a square because it's basically 2 squares with lines but in 3 dimension it is a cube or box. During our process of drawing Miss Ferguson showed us how to shade in our shapes with pencils and coloring in pencils. I enjoyed my second week with Miss Ferguson and I am looking forward for next week.
