Tech at Tamaki College

This week for tech we have been programming our m-bots to make the letter 'D'. Before coding, we had a little game of kahoot which involved things to do with the m-bots. After playing kahoot we started coding. It took a lot of time to make it a 'D' but finally we found out what we had to do. All we did was make the m-bot go straight the made a semi circle. This weeks robotics was very interesting and fun and I enjoyed debugging the code.

This week for robotics this week we were working the sensors on the m-bots. In the video above it shows what the m-bot did. On the site mBlock, we coded what the m-bot needs to do in order to make it go in a 8. To make it go in a 8 we used the sensors to follow the line. It successfully went in a 8, it took quite a lot of amount to make it go in a 8. I would say it was quite easy but it took quite a long time to figure it is. This was our practice since we were then going to write our initials. After coding the number 8, we used the sensor to stop it in its place or go backwards. By stopping it we put our hands in front of the m-bot and it either stops or goes backwards.

Tech at Tamaki College

This week for tech we had robotics with Mr. Krishna. For robotics this week we played around with the m-bots. M-bots are robots that we have to use code to make it do something. Last term we worked on trying to make a rectangle and square, this week we tried to make the m-bots go in a triangle. I tried using other peoples codes to see if they had a similar code to make a triangle. After many tries I finally made a triangle. The codes were similar to the codes that I made with the square and rectangle codes so it wasn't that hard.

Tech at Tamaki College

This week was the last week of graphics with Miss Ferguson. For our last lesson of graphics with Miss Ferguson, we painted our games or got them cut out on the laser cutter. For the whole session working on our game and creating a scary character on tinkercad. We went on tinkercad and created a scary character based on Halloween. I really enjoyed making 3D objects since it was a first for me and I enjoyed making a game not having any knowledge of how to create a 3D object or game. I was really fascinated at how I could make things on tinkercad and enjoyed using the website. I'm looking forward to my next rotation and I'd like to thank Miss Ferguson for making my first rotation wonderful and interesting.

Tech at Tamaki College

This week for tech we started making our games using the 3D printer. For this we had gotten an explanation from Miss Ferguson of what we have to do. Miss Ferguson 3D printed some game boards and in 2 different shapes such as squares and circles. For my game I couldn't use these game boards as I have a puzzle which needs different ways of making. The boards that Miss Ferguson printed were sanded. After that we dusted the dust off the boards with a duster and then glued the two boards together.

Tech at Tamaki College

Today for tech we finished making our games. Today I looked on thingiverse which is a website that has designs that you might need to create your game. I looked around the website to find jigsaw puzzles. Most of the pieces I saw were cookie cutters which weren't useful to what I was creating, so I looked for a plain white puzzle base on google. We were creating the game pieces that we made on tinkercad, so it could be 3D printed.

Tech at Tamaki College

Today we went to Tech at Tamaki College and we were with Miss Ferguson. Today Miss Ferguson told us to think of a game or board game that can be made in 3D and we could think of 4 games. I thought of tic tac toe, checkers, connect 4 and a puzzle. I thought of these games because I thought that they would be the easiest to create my own design with. We made the game into our own version by making it with different colors and shapes. Instead of x's and o's for tic tac toe, I used emojis and instead of normal checkers pieces, I used fruit. I made different designs for the games I chose. Once we drew and colored our designs we chose one design for next week.

Tech at Tamaki College

Today in Tech we were asked to create a 3D version of games that you can play on paper. There were a variety of games that could be played on paper like, tic tac toe, hangman, word search, maze and much more. In Tech we worked collaboratively in pairs or in a group of three. My partner was Taheesha and we first played games then figured out what game we were going to make in 3D. We both chose to make tic tac toe in 3D then worked out how we can make it 3D. Later after we finished working out how to make tic tac toe into 3D we wondered what the structure would be, our choices were either plastic or wood. Then we could plan for next week.
