LI: To create a piece of insect art
Inspired by art creations by Raku Inoue we went outside and collected leaves, twigs, and other plant debris to create our own insect images. I found it quite hard to find different colours amongst the greenery because most of the flowers have died from the heat. I enjoyed this activity because I got to experiment with different materials and because it was a challenge to figure out which insect I was going to replicate.
Raku Inoue was born in Tokyo, Japan and is now based in Montreal, Canada. Raku used to be known for his polymer clay sculptures but his recent works have consisted of pieces that include organic material which has caught the attention of many people internationally. He also has his own clothing brand which is called Reikan Apparel.
Hi Haylee,
ReplyDeleteI really liked reading your blog post today! Your art looks amazing! I liked that you have added interesting facts as well, because it makes the blog post more informative. The thing I liked the most about this activity was that we learnt how to be creative but at the same time we also learnt more about our insect.
I didn't know that Raku also has his own clothing brand which is called "Reikan Apparel"! Your blog post was very knowledgeable. Do you know five interesting facts about your insect?
Keep up the great work!

Kia Ora Haylee,
ReplyDeleteWow! this is one great piece of art you have here! It looks so great! I have also done this challenge and it was very complex and hard, did you find it hard? I really like how descriptive your blurb is, and how you have also talked about the person who has inspired you to do this. I also liked how you expressed your enjoyment of this activity.
I think you might of forgot to add the three facts, so maybe try to recheck that you have done things correctly next time.
What insect have you made?
Great Job!
Kia ora Haylee,
ReplyDeleteCharlotte here from the SLJ program.
What a cool insect! I love the vibrant yellow colour of the petals! I also like the pattern you created around it - very creative.
Thank you for also sharing about the artist - it was really interesting to read. I’ve always wanted to go to Japan and hope that one day I will be able to. Have you ever been, or would you like to?
Looking forward to seeing more of your awesome posts!
Mā te wā,
Charlotte
