SLJ Week 1 Activity 1

LI: To collect materials needed to successfully complete our weekly superpower building missions with Nano Girl.

This morning LS2 worked in groups with our Year 4 students to help them create their first Summer Learning Journey blog posts. PBS are still at school this week so finding some of the materials we needed for our treasure hunt was easy. Our challenge is going to be able to find all the materials we need at home now. I found this activity interesting because I am looking forward to the activities that are yet to come.
How are you cooperating with the Summer Learning Journey?

Wow! I really like the way you and Mayshar have shared your opinions by creating this screencastify. I also liked that you have added a well explained blurb to describe the topic to the readers. I am really excited for completing my other tasks for the Summer Learning Journey and am looking forward to commenting as well. What did you find hard about this challenge ?
    Keep up the good work!

    1. Kia Ora Sakshi,
Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog! I really appreciate it! I didn't really find this challenge hard as most of the resources were at school, so it wasn't really a problem finding the materials.
Did you also find any of this activity difficult?
I hope you enjoy the rest of the Summer Learning Journey!

    2. Kia ora Haylee,
Thank you replying to my comment. I agree, it wasn't that hard to complete this activity at school as we were supplied by most of the equipments. I think the plus point of doing the summer learning journey from school is that we can work with our friends and share our opinions with each other. What would you do if you couldn't find a material which is required?
I am looking forward to your reply!

    3. Talofa Sakshi,
That is a good point! Since we're still at school it's easier to complete these challenges as most of the resources are at school and because we get to collaborate with our friends. If I couldn't find any of the materials I would substitute it with something similar or if it was easy to make I would use the resources around the house to make it.
Would you find it easier to do this challenge at home or at school? Why?
      Can't wait for your reply!

    4. Talofa Haylee,

Thank you for answering my question and replying to my comment! I really appreciate it! I agree, the best way to solve the situation is by replacing it or making it with different materials. You were really smart while answering the question! I think I would find to do this challenge more easier to do at home because we will mostly have all the materials but if we do not have one we could easily buy it from the stationary. Will you be more comfortable by doing this activity at home or at school?

Thank you! I am looking forward for your reply.

  2. Kia Ora Haylee,

Great job on completing your first Summer Learning Journey activity of the year. I have also done this activity on my blog, and I found it very interesting, did you? I really like that you and Mayshar had presented yourself and how clearly it sounds. Next time maybe try to add the names of the objects in your DLO or somewhere in the Screen castify, so that the audience can have a better view and hint of what we might be doing for tomorrow.

What are some items we might of missed and how could we resolve this problem?

    Looking forward to your reply!

    1. Hi Sulia,
Thank you for leaving a nice comment on my blog! I really appreciate it! I found this activity interesting as well because this challenge has left me clueless as to what the materials were needed for to which it is very intriguing to me. I'll keep that in mind the next time I create a blog post with equipment in it! Some items that my group missed was a spoon/spatula and a plastic water bottle. For a spoon I think we could've used a stick or a popsicle stick and I don't really know what to substitute for the water bottle.
Do you know what we could've used for the water bottle?
Thank you for the feedback! I will definitely use your feedback for my next blog post!

    2. Hey Haylee,

Thanks for the reply! I think instead of a water bottle, we could maybe use a empty milk container, or a plastic container. I think that that would more just as well.
What did you find most difficult about this challenge?

Thank you! Looking for to your reply!

    3. Hey Sulia,
That is a very good idea by using a container for a water bottle! If we had both the stick and container we would have collected all the equipment. I didn't really find this challenge hard as I worked in a group and most of the equipment was found at school.
How did you cope with this challenge?

      Thank you for the reply!
